Personal Life:
Amtrak Cascades! What a wonderful ride between Seattle and Vancouver! I got to enjoy a lot of different things in Canada, and I’m a bit sad that the forecasted sunny week turned rainy at the very last minute. But it did not stop me from exploring and planning a future trip to visit the local mountains and hiking trails available. Well, I have three more days before my break is officially over, but I cannot wait to go back to school and learn more practical skills.
Anyhow, time to talk about what I am preparing for!
Antioch University Seattle:
I’m excited to start year two of my program! My mentors have told me that this year will be easier than my first. The main reason for that is that I now know the expectations and am no longer a confused first-year student. Imposter syndrome will still haunt me, but I finally have some leverage in saying that I was good enough to survive a year and not just the application process for this program.
I sadly did not get the fellowship position for the PsyD program. I was definitely competing with other peers and students in upper cohorts who have more experience, but I’ll make sure to try again next year. I’ll also be applying to a Minority Fellowship outside of the university, so stay tuned for more details as I open up the application tonight.
This quarter I will be taking three and a half courses. The first course is Interventions I, where I will be learning different treatment options, when they would be useful to use, and how to tailor them to my client’s specific needs and identities. Then I will be taking Professional Seminar I, which is a course that will allow me to grow professionally and be a part of case consultation with other students in my program. The third class I am taking is called Research Ethics, Quantitative Methods & Analysis I. This course will teach me methods for quantitative research and how to ethically carry out research. The half class I mentioned is not truly a class, but it is called supervision. When I am not in class or studying during the week, I will be working in the clinic and practicing therapy with real clients. My supervisor is there to oversee my work, provide feedback, and teach me skills and methods that I may not always get the time to do in some of my classes. I was debating on taking pediatric or forensic psychology as an elective, but I decided to not take an elective this quarter, so I could focus on a few other things.
Although I did not get a fellowship, I applied to a Master’s program that I can take at the same time as my Doctorate. I interviewed with the chair of the program and received some amazing mentorship as a bilingual individual looking to provide services in Spanish in the future. I am still waiting to get my acceptance letter to the program, but that’s the second reason I decided to not take an elective, in case I have to start classes for that program in a few weeks.

San Tiego Photos – New pictures have been posted!
BachStreetBoi – I am going to be streaming on Sundays and creating artwork. Let’s hope I can manage this, if not, I may retire from trying to stream content, and just focusing on posting on Instagram.
AnxieTea Podcast – The podcast is still delayed.
Instructions Unclear – Delayed till post-grad.
